If anyone's interested in picking up some little-used ex-racing slicks or road racing tyres, we've come across a guy who can get the following:
Road racing D208's $110
Rear slicks (190 45 17's) $60
Front slicks (120 65 17's) $60
Front slicks (120 70 17'S) $60
Will be placing an order in the next few days, so if you want to get a set for the Nov. 22 track day & save your good road tyres let me know.

Hmm $120... plus getting someone to change them over..
prob worth the wear on my new tyres.. but might be 2-3 weeks before I can spare the cash.. So I could be out of this one.. Bobbi what is the dead line for getting some?
Mario: any idea if we'd get 190's on the back??? 180/55 is stock..

Hey Dan, a 190 will fit the rim Although the cross section profile wont be quite right. But honestly, stick with the 180 if you can. They handle better and the 6r doesn't have enough grount to generate the weight transfe to make use of the 190. Plus the 190 will tip in slower. I find the 180 works best for me too. Generaly
never go wider than stock. We should be able to get 180's slicks though, so don't stress.

929 has standard fitment 190's on it..i put 180's on it, it handled like a pig (turned in TOO quick, and wouldnt hold a str8 line)..i say go with stock/recomended if u can..)

i think i agree ther neka.
the skinner the tyre on the back the less it holds in a straight line.
just think back to the 250 days when all that wind use to move the tyre from underneath the bike slightly at 100km/h

Mate with your track record... You fall off to much to be keeping a straight line... I doubt the tyres had anything to do with it.. it's was that dodgey nut.. you know the one between the tank and the seat..

Just an update on this - Dan, it's not too late, the guys got about 10 fronts and 8 rears in stock. He can get 180's and 190's, hards to medium-hards to soft compounds. He was also saying he's got access to some proper superbike tyres. Apparently you don't run them to the edge, but they give you much harder push out of corners, so he recommended only people experienced with riding slicks to use them.
The normal slicks are used, but would get 4-5 good track days out of them. Picking some up this weekend, so will update the thread when we've seen them.

At this point I just bought a 7 x 4 trailer... So I think I'll just be trying to even out my Pirelli's... Ah well not to worry.. prob safer I use the tyres I already have some feel for.
