Front wheel bearings about to go (will get replaced asap) however, has anyone ever had one of these go? and also, what did it feel like, and what happened when it did give up the ghost?

It'll probably make a big grinding noise, still spin round and round but there will be a fair amount of drag. Not likely to be catastrauphic, but replace as soon as possible. Shouldn't take long...

Mate,
it will be a lot cheaper to use a bearing company and not a motorcycle shop to get your bearings from
I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it.

bad wheel bearings are BAD

first they start to make a noise, eventually they collapse which is really BAD

it also makes em a real bitch to get out

get the bearings from a bearing place they have a small number on them

prob $5-$10 a bearing

Mate with Aprillia needed 2 rear bearings , the sprcoket bearing and a couple of seals $50 at the bearing mob with the list in hand that we foound on the web ,

$490 from aprilia  a 10 x markup and this is besides the fact that the bearing mob makes plenty out of it as well

Yeps bearing places usually source from OEM suppliers as well...or sometimes better than OEM. Try Tony at Hallam bearings he should be able to help you out.

Cheers

Yeah - don't risk it. Once wheel bearings start to go they progress real quick. It still pays to check your prices. Mine were actually cheaper genuine than from a bearing place - I think they were a odd size from memory. Nice easy job to do anyway.
