Can you use Metholated spirits on an o-ring chain?

Only need to clean a chain if it is excessivly dirty like a bit of stuck on grit or a dirt bike chain in a mud bash but I use to throw anything slippery on for lube as long as it is adjusted right most 'o'ring chains are fine.. As in my case just hate the sight of dirty looking chain and like to see the gold links and lube the rubber 'o'rings to stop them tearing up amoungst the grit. :wink:
I like to use good named lube on my roady as it flings far less and easy to clean as smitty says, he be right. :wink:

Some degreaser has caustic soda in it. I've been using the Castrol chain lube for 4000km and found that the chain is staying much cleaner than when I was using PJ1. No it hasn't flung off.
