So i'm piping up now cos i'd like some advice. Basically the bike i'm on (a '99' zx6r) has developed 1st gear issues as in it likes to jump out of 1st gear

I've been riding around for a few thousand k's and it runs fine as long as you dont juice it up in 1st gear.
So i'm just wondering what are the likely components that will need replacing? Most places have been advising of a rough $1500 for the job. Is this about right?
Feedback appreciated.. as i'm doing my head in about weather or not to get it repaired or just get rid of the bike and get a 1000cc

is it possible that only SOME of the dogs that engage the gear are worn? So its a bit like pot luck if i get the worn ones when clicking into 1st which determines if it will jump out or not?
Still totally unsure, i can see a '00' R1 for $7,500 with 28,000 on the clock. But if i'm going to get diddly $$$ for the zx6 than theres no point...
