Hi Folks,
Since I selling my Spada, naturally the rear shock has shit itself.
So, I can get a replacement from the wreckers pretty cheaply, but is it a big job to replace ? I'm guessing just a simple undo/remove the old one and replace with the new one, but I've not had a close look yet.
I'm sure someone here has done this before (to a propper bike, not just a honda

) .
So, any tips ?

from the manual its only a couple of bolts and a few hours taking the arse end of you bike apart.
Method:
-Pull of shit in the way.
-Undo bolts holding rear shocker
-Remove rear shocker
-Insert new/secondhand shocker
-inserts bolts in the correct position
-Put shit together
See only 6 easy steps

Mina, you forgot step 5.5 - tighten up the bolts. Then do step 6. And you do your own work. Remind me to stay in front of you on the next group ride.

A shock is a shock..
Well it's prob more of a strut? Spring and Shock together..
Just a matter of removing all the correct items that give you access to what you need to get access to, or drops the swing arm far enough for you to remove it..
I dunno spada's at all so I honestly couldn't tell you what needs removing..
Socialsecurity's (Ian) misses has a spada, but I doubt he's had to do that job as the bikes been under warranty and hasn't needed to remove it.. But he might have some suggestions after having a good look at it.

Just use a bit of caution.
I replaced the rear shock from my old GPX600 with my brothers help. We had undone the shock but it wouldnt come straight out because of limited space. So we've got a hold of the subframe when the shock fell out the bottom (which meant there was nothing supporting the rear end of the bike) and the weight of the bike came down trapping our fingers between the subframe and the rear tyre. Bloody hurt a bit and we were lucky we didnt break any fingers.

Get a but of timber and prop the sub frame up from the swingarm before you remove the shock.
If you have something overhead, you can support the sub frame from that using a couple of tie downs or similar..

Its pretty much whats written above, just unbolt the old and bolt in the new.

maybe my shocker bolt is loose and thats why my bike doesnt sit properly
PS tighten bolts to correct torque setting

I replaced mine on the ZX9R a few months back, it's a pretty easy job. We used some rope with a few truckies knots to hold the back up, unbolted the shock and one tie rod to get enough room to pull it out. Cleaned and lubed all the bearings and put the new shock in...too easy!
