K&N Air Filter

Mon Jul 09, 2012 7:49 pm

Thinking of putting a K&N air fliter in my 2010 zx6r, anyone done this..? will it increase performance considerably...! Do you need to also put in a power commander..?

I'm interested in wether this is a worth while modification..?

Any feedback would be great, cheers

Have done it, but only for reduced service costs as Wattie

Replaced my OEM filter with a K&N. No noticably performance improvement but my aim was always for cheaper servicing costs.

Wow I never knew there were people who bought K&N's and accepted that they don't really do a lot apart from allow easy maintenance most are like "yeah it goes heaps harder tested it with my bum dyno", from dyno testing alot of bike Harley's pick up good power from most after market filter's as opposed to the hypo jap motor's which have OEM filter's that flow more than enough air.

most of those bum-dyno quotes come straight out of people's arses mate  its all bullshit we know it.

K&N's, BMC's etc - are better because in the long run they are heaps cheaper.

I took the K and N out of the Rex and put a stocker back in. For $50 for a replacement filter v the stuffing around cleaning a K and N and Re oiling it I couldn't be pharked so I don't even buy the maintenance argument. I also kind of figure the guy in the Kawasaki factory who designed the engine probably knows more about air flow than I do ;)

Well I know the stock filter works because my bike with the filthy filter that the previous owner didn't change in a long time, only made 1hp less and the AFR's where nearly identical to the new one.

The other side of that filter was clean also so it was doing its job well.
