accelerater pump for PC?

hi just wandering if anyone has tried the accelerater pump ad on for the PC's and if so is there any advantage using it? i have tried but it kept blowing black smoke(rich)out of corners.

Mine just makes it snap or kick when you open the throttle from closed. The sensation is as if someone pressed an on/off button on the power. I really don't think there's much advantage - it's only from fully or nearly closed afaik. I'm using the recommended street settings, which are harsher than the race settings supposedly.

i might give it another try as it was a while ago since ive used it.

I tried it 2 years ago on my Z1000 and found that I ended up way rich most of the time. Of course I'm spastic on the throttle anyway, but no matter how I had it set it would cause a very rich condition. If I was a drag racer it would be a good option as under full acceleration it does help. As for now I'm going to have a shot of JB.

I think you guys confuse what it does.

It is an enrichment algorithm for sudden throttle movements. Sensitivity controls how much movement you need for the enrichment to activate, then you can choose how much extra fuel and for how long it lasts. It is nothing to do with vehicle acceleration, more so with engine acceleration. All ECU's have this function but when you modify an engine it can be sometimes necessary to alter this amount. An example is doing the sub-throttle disable on a Z1000. Normally when you crack open the throttle the sub-throttles open a little slower to smooth the delivery. When you disable this the change in airflow is more rapid, and as such more enrichment is needed to keep things running smooth. The problem with something like a PC3 is that you only get one setting for the amount of enrichment, whereas the amount of enrichment required varies with air speed (namely RPM).

So generally, you should not need to touch this unless you have a specific reason to do so, and you know what you are doing with it. It is why a good tuner charges good money, not for the time they spend but for the access to the knowledge to set this stuff up correctly.

you are 100% write on how it works but im just starting to wonder if its worth having when a bike has secondry flies in the TBs as they dampen the air flow at the same time (restict air)?.i tryed it with the race setting and my mates said it was blowing black smoke out of the corners(when we were having a bit of fun) I guese i will try it again with less rotation of the crank.

That is why for your application you should not need to play with it and it will be best disabled. Most applications wont need it, only those for specific reasons. Start by turning it off, then try with very small amounts of enrichment. The duration (engine cycles) is not quite as important. Same with sensitivity, try turning it down so that only large fistfuls of throttle activate it. You should be able to just blip the throttle to notice the changes.
