Hi, just thought I would hop on here and say I finally checked and reshimmed my valves and now my bike purrs like a kitten but goes like a cat with a fire cracker up its arse!
I began Friday night (pulled it down), sources the parts Saturday morning - have to say that Nathan at Kawasaki Newcastle was exceptionally helpful in determining what shim sizes I needed (suprised he didn't punch me in the nose after I started drooling over the kawasaki bbq girl who happenned to be his gf!) -Thanks!
Anyway got the shims (all but 2 of the inlet valves wre in spec, all the exhausts were too tight.
Finished putting it together with a hangover yesterday, only real difficulty I had was every time I would put the cams back in and start to tighten them down, it would pull the timing out a bit, even when trying to allow for thim. The only way I eventually fixed it was to transcribe the graduation marks from the front of the timing gears (attached to the cams) to the back so that I could see them as I was tightening the cam bolts (of which there are twenty and after taking them out about 10 times can really piss a bloke off!).
Anyway, all done and good and saved myself a few hundred bucks
