Firstly this is not intended to be oil debate of which brand is bestest!
Recieved mixed answers in regards as to when to switch from mineral to synthetic during break in; so, would someone like to take a stab to put this issue to rest.
Cheers

Dealer's will probably tell you 6,000....But I went to 5100(semi) at 1,000....BUT I also changed my oil for the first time at 300k's with mineral just to get any nastie's out.....

I've gone semi straight after the run in.

Ok, semi straight after run in; full synthetic @ 6000km?

Is it a race or track bike????....Why would you want to run full syth in a road bike?...
I run full synth in the track bike but is costly as I do it every second track day....I'm curiouse to know if anybody is using full synth in their road bike and how often do they change it in that scenario???

I used to run full synth in the Crim after 6000klms and changed it every 3000 but it was probably overkill. A good semi is fine i reckon
In the Rex I'll run 5100 and change it every 3,000, that reminds me.....Oil Change due

have to agree about full-synth being overkill for a roadie. Semi-synth oils these days are 100% fine for normal road use.
I changed from mineral to semi-synth at 1000k, but even then, the motor/gearbox is not even close to *run-in* fully. That doesn't happen until about 5000k, as a general indicator.....

My bike got swapped over to semi syn by the dealership at its 1k service, and i then swapped it out to full syn at 8-9k.. My oil gets changed every 3k, but i dont commute around town on it though.. It only comes out on weekends for very spritied rides

Yeah changing full syn every 3k on a roady is overkill, but i like to spoil my baby
