ZX9 Break Master Cylinder Problems

Thu May 12, 2011 9:01 am

I have just fitted some brake and clutch master cyclinders / reservoirs off a B model ZX9 to my 93 ZXR-750. Before installation they were cleaned and a new kit put through them. The problem is now my brakes are garbage. I have a really long lever. The old ZXR ones were great. I have bled them more than enough so there's definatley no air in the lines. I am at a loss as to why these have changed the braking so significantly - in the wrong direction.

Any help or feedback would be much appreciated.

Cheers, Jed.

B model brakes were never good, good pads and braided lines help a bit. When I ride my old 9 now it scares me to think how I ever stopped on it.

I have heard some put C model 6 spotters on but I think there is a fork leg change or something to do it?

Do you know if the MC s are the same diameter?

I have had a glance in my manual but it doesn't give these measurements. I lists the 7 with the C E and F 9s and the 9B as a different type though.

if the piston diameter in the master is differant+the calipers it can change the ratio witch will make it like you said.does your bike have the same calipers as the moddle you got the master cylinder off? :kuda:

Yes, I have brakes again. Put some new pads in last night, made a hell of a difference. Didn't think my old ones were as bad until i took them out.
