Stator removal

Is removing the Stator difficult? pull off fairing, disconnect wiring, undoe stator cover bolts and remove cover. What next.

I can rebuild a car from the bottom up but still learning with the bike

On my GPZ and ZZR the stator is held in place by 3 screws - undo them and remove while making sure you've got the cable clear. Replace with a new / 2nd hand stator and refit

i had to remove the stator off my previous zx6 which was in an accident. My plan was to remove the busted cover and stator and replace with a new one.
My plan sort of came to a halt when i tried to remove the stator.
If yours is a 98 or older it will be held in place with a single bolt. the bolt came out just fine, but the stator was pretty much stuck on there.

You could try using a gear puller to remove it, but I tried with 3 different gear pullers, ranging from 2 claws to 4, but it wouldnt budge.

Ended up selling the wreck to Charlie (member of this forum) so if he sees this, i hope he can enlighten you on how he removed it.

On the 10 the stator is bolted onto the stator cover, and is held to the cover with 4 bolts. It just takes a tug to remove due the magnets. Wiring may connect under the tank.

ahh...sorry i misread what you were talking about. I was talking about the rotor previously (the magnetic round thing stuck to the engine)
the stator should pull off from the casing just fine as the guys have stated before. That was actually the easiest part to remove

Thanks everyone, easiest mechanical work I have ever done and it is obviously f#cked, one of the parts lookes encased incarbon! Now to order from the USofA (ebay) and sit back and wait

Wreckers may be better, I got a cheap one from the states and it died in under a year. Turned out to be of Chinese origin

I got mine from the wreckers too - they tested it there and said it was good. It's worked flawlessly since installing it.

Thanks. Might do some calling around - one wrecker in Melbourne wated $250 + postage. rewind = $250; new ex the states (maybe the chinese one? is $140 landed); new in Aus is $300. Uk has a second hand one for about $100 landed. Too many options!!

pulling the stator of C2 ZX9 was easy as, few bolts and bam off..

Honda CBR954's, burn stators out with almost pinpoint accuracy at 50k's. A mate with one has done over 350,000klms on his,(now on 2nd or maybe 3rd motor). He has tried everything from o/s and ended up finding a yamaha or other brand which fitted and lasted a lot longer. His Chinese bought ones lasted about 30k.
