Hey guys,
Hoping to change my oil tomorrow on my 2000 model zx9r and 2001 zx6r. Both are only about 3,500 km's from their last service but due to a lot of travelling and work over the past 18 months they havent been ridden much..
Was wondering if anyone had any specific recommendations on what to use? Generally i use full synthetics on most of my vehicles but the last time i had the 9 serviced the mechanic went into great lengths to recommend half synthetic oils over full ones.. Just wondering if anyone had any knowledge in this area?

You should have asked last week as supercheap had a 20% of sale and you could have picked up Castrol power 1 race full synthetic, Castrol GPS semi synthetic or Silkolene semi synthestic for about $48 for 4 litres.....
BTW
I use the Power 1 race... But have used the others.. There all good..

" Most" people here I think pretty much swear by Motul 5100. Pretty sure this topic has been discussed in great length many a time here so might well pay to do a search.

I go to supercheap and grab the silkoline full synth stuff, it has a z1000 on the front of the bottle, from memory it's about $50 odd bucks, but is the nectar of the gods, as are all good motorcycle oils that cost you more than a pineapple.

Motul 5100 is what i run and always have, never had a problem, my 9 has done 95k and still going strong as ever

sorry to be a pain again, but a bit of searching the boards has stumbled me across discussions on the different wattages... this is somewhat confused me a bit.. i guess my bike would now be considered an older bike, but its just about to click over to 14,000km's so it wouldnt really be considered a 'lots of km's bike'...
with this in mind can anyone help me interpret the following advice (copied from another thread)... or should i just stick with what the manual tells me?
"Newer bike with low km's 10-40/50
older bike lots of km's start going towards the 15/20w (tolerances are larger) "

mate, use any of the above mentioned oils, until you start getting missed gears, blowing smoke, i wouldnt bother going thicker.

Wattages.???
I think you mean viscosity..
Heres some light reading.
http://www.upmpg.com/tech_articles/motoroil_viscosity/and with only 14000ks a 10W / 40 will be fine...
