Changing Gumby Rectifier

Sat Jul 24, 2010 1:40 pm

Anyone else done this? It's bolted on the underside of the frame, just betweek the rear shock and the back of the engine. Getting to the two bolts was hard enough, but FMD, the cables are almost impossible to unclip. I've get the grey connector off, but the black one won't shift. The tab clicks with extreme pressure, but it just won't disconnect.

Any tips?

Got there in the end - a few scrapes on the hands etc. Damn stupid place to mount the damn thing. The honda's is on the side of the sub frame, 2 min job to change. Oh well, all done and dusted. Hopefully it will keep charging OK.

Thats because hondas go through rectifiers like they are going out of fashion. I had to replace 2 on two seperate hondas within 2 months... Both the VFR and the CBR ones... you are correct though, they were easy to get to :)
