Gasket suppliers

Mon Apr 19, 2010 6:18 pm

I'm after a gasket kit for my zxr400 racebike and was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a supplier. I wouldn't mind a set of steel clutch plates either. I've tried Otobai and Victorian Motorcycle Wreckers, am going to give RB a call tomorrow. Is there anyone else apart from that?

Kawasaki don't want to have anything to do with getting bits for greys.

Thanks guys.

Regarding gaskets, if its for things like side or rocker covers then maybe just buy some gasket paper and trace it then cut it to suit. You can get various thicknesses from 0.5mm through to 3-4mm and in various materials like paper or cork to suit the oem's gasket specs.

tracing a gasket for a cam cover, with all the small bolt holes - is about as much fun as having one of those small umbrellas dragged down the inside of your JT after a footy trip to Surfers !! :x

easy ones, like basic round engine covers with only 2 or 3 bolt holes - well they are not too bad.

Petero - you will probably need to go to US or UK ebay to get these gasket sets. Would also be worth ringing RB Imports for some tips on suppliers.

Thanks for the replies. I have gasket paper so that's no worries. I'm more chasing the rubber gasket for the cam cover and the spark plug well o-rings, as well as the rubber gaskets for the head bolts.

I might have to look overseas.

It's a lot easier if you get the item, clean the sealing face, then spray it with something like cooking oil and cleanly press it down onto the paper sufficiently hard enough to leave a slight crease. Oil leaves a mark as well as the crease, and your then only as good as your skills with a pen and stanley knife.

I ended up getting them from a shop called "Cradley's Kawasaki" in the UK. :)
