ZX7R pull down

Hey guys, due to licence being suspended I thought I would make good use of the bike being off the road. The bike is a 1997 ZX7R.. so it's getting a little old. Engine still makes good power but the gear box/clutch is worrying me.

Couple of problems i'm wishing to address..

I'm getting oil coming out of the RHS fork & onto the brake caliper.. Is it possible the fork seal is gone? If so what is the most pain free way to go about this?

Other main thing that is sh*tting me is false neutrals. Sometimes if I don't slam it in hard enough the box will rattle trying to find its place.. then catches. I've had one f*cking hairy experience from this happening. Considering the bike is going to be off the road for awhile does anyone have any tips? Clutch also seems to be slipping.

Clutch problem:

It will either be that your friction plates are worn out, or that your clutch springs have gone soft. Could be both.

If you want a bangin awesome hard as nuts clutch. replace all clutch plates, clutch springs, and clutch fluid. Then bleed the bastard.
Also, take a look at thinner metal plates and stiffer clutch springs. Google ZX7R slipper clutch to get details on what thickness metal plates and what colour springs to order from kwaka (or parts supplier of choise).

That should sort the clutch.

Youll also need a new clutch cover gasket and some gasket goo.

Cool.. Thanks mate.. i've already got the clutch cover plate off, so this should be a lot easier than I thought. It's hard to know if they are very worn because I am unsure of original thickness of the material on the plates. So this bike does have a slipper clutch?

You could try an aftermarket clutch kit with heavier springs.
I use the EBC kit from http://www.aussieparts.com - a site sponosr, so will look after you.

Try scuffing up the metal plates as they may be glazed too.

With the forks, it will cost about $125 to $150 to have the fork seals replaced and fresh fluid in them and probly worth doing.
You may have some grit stuck in the seal causing the weeping though and that may be fixed by sliding a very thin peice of plastic (something like old photo negatives, you know from the old days..) up and into the seal area to try and push it out..
