ouch, looks like a nasty repair at the least. Maybe if your lucky JB weld could fix it, but i'll not say that'd be the final fix. Aluminium can usually be welded, though i doubt that the case could be welded while on the bike. Is this a side cover that can be unbolted from the engine? or is it an integral part of the case? if its like any part i've dealt with it'll be a removeable side plate.
If welding doesn't fix it then im guessing it'll be replacement time. Though i'd suggest getting ideas from people who know what they are talking about rather than me.

Clean it up with degreaser & run the bike to see if you have any leaks, if there are no leaks keep the cover off so you can keep an eye out for leaks in the future, as for the wires cut them & join them, any auto electrician can help if its too hard for you do do the wiring.
This is subject to having a mechanic check it out & give you the all clear as the problem could be worse than you can see.
Oh & i think the wiring will be the Neutral sensor so its no biggie in the short term.

think thats a speedo sensor on the Z7fiddys ...not the neutral switch (might be wrong but)

im thinkin ill just chuck it in the back of the van and take it to a few places and see what they say...... get an idea of what we are really in for, could always make a bracket up for the speed sensor

Regardless, I think speedo sensor or neutral light is the least of the problems, it does indeed look expensive

Good luck with it and keep us posted please.

I havent taken it round yet, but spoke to a mate today that knows how to weld, and he suggested smoothing the casting back and he will weld in a new bracket system to hold the sprocket cover onto, still a motor out job tho

Good news!
Found rear hugger, electrics, and sprocket cover on ebay..... in canada
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... MEWAX%3AITThey all seem to be pretty cheap though! now to get brett to look at the bike and see if he can weld a bracket on to fit everything back up
Also, in this pic does anyone know what the circular item down the bottom is (you can see something has taken a chunk out of the corner above the top bolt)

Is it a water pump or thermostat or something like that? i unded a few bolts and coolant came out so im guessing its something to do with the cooling system.
and in that pic, the sensor that isnt connected to anything (to the right of the bolt im talking about) whats it do? lol, should of known all this stuff a long time ago i guess, but im still fresh to bikes so im not pretending i know it all.

& neutral sensor

thanks mate, cant start the bike and check for leaks due to the state of the electrics, ill have to do something dodgy and hook them all back up over the weekend. im concerned about the chip out of the top of the housing too.

Thats on the to do list... ont he plus side ive been quoted around $200 to get all the parts i need 2nd hand shipped here from canada (including purchase price) should i be worried about customs adding fees and shit on its way through? (Kwaka wanted 350 for the hugger alone brand new)
Thats for:
Sprocket Cover
Electrics
Rear Hugger (black)
Will def get it to a mech soon, hard without a ute and dont wanna push the friendship with the neighbour, waiting for a mate to have a free day so i can use her van.

Customs only comes into play around the $1000.00 mark, so you should be fine.
