just wondering, how many track days should I expect from a good set of track tyres, like pilot race, BT003 and race tech's ??
Im thinking I do about 300k's on a track day on average..

On the 600 at 86 kg I would get 4-5 days (4-5 sessions) to a rear & 6-7 from a front & thats basically to the markers... could stretch them a bit further but why risk it.

I found used Pilot Race on Flebay, they had been used for a qualifying run only. I have done three trackdays on them , 1 slowly as I crashed the day before and two on the noise. I expect to get at least one more day from them.

To do 300klm's on a track day at eastern Creek assuming 20 min sessions (unlikely) you would need to complete 12.72 laps per session over 6 sessions at an average time of 1:34 per lap. I'm tipping you'll get one day out of a set if you're lucky........

Well Hoff is going to stop riding "the pace" so maybe thats correct...
i did 300kms on a set of BT014's they were shagged. it was Spence's race school, 2 groups, 25min sessions i think. 1.49's on the Zed.

ans smoked Pat Metcalf.

Hoff, it all depends on a few factors. How fast you ride, the weather...high temp will cause more wear, rain less wear....how many sessions you do, gross weight, the tyre and probably a few other things i can't think of right now!!!!
My race bike is a six and I run proddie tyres on it. I reckon at an average track day I would do four maybe five sessions before I'm shagged. The tyres would be OK to use for another track day normally, but won;t have the grip to go mental. So I like to start my day with the freshest rubber I can afford. It's worth at least a second per lap and lots more in confidence. But, to qualify all that, that is running 63's at Broadford and 1'46"s at the Island consistently. At 67"s and 1'50"s they would last two track days I reckon.

I was told by the Bridgestone tech Guru that you shouldn't use slicks or race compound street tyres for more than 3 heat cycles on the racetrack, apparently the rubber starts to degrade from the 1st lap & after 3 cycles it's lost most of its elasticity & therefore grip.
Like Marty said, there are a lot of factors that affect tyre wear, ambient temp, weight & horsepower/torque are all contributing factors but how hard you lean on them is probly the biggest.
