Boots, Davey crockets, half a brain, out of kilter + lube

Thu Apr 23, 2009 8:16 pm

I had a maintance afternoon this arvo. It was much needed

Before leaving on the last trip, the bike had 43,000 klms on the clock. It's now got nearly 48,000!!!! So almost 5000 klms was covered. The chain I fitted was knackered already too  But there is a valid reason for that.
It was a non-oring chain fitted to old sprockets, ridden in some attrocious conditions. So 5k isn't all that bad considering. 8)

As some of my clients finally got off there arses and wrote me some cheques :D , I lashed out on the good gear.

RK top of the wasser ABCXYZ heavy duty X-Ring chain!
Top quality front and rear Sprockets (JT's  )
some motul 5100 10/40
A new oil filter
and a spankers set of Michelin's finest, Pilot Road II's from Pablo's in Mulgrave!!!!!!!

All for the Princely sum of $670!!!!

I also wanted to pull the race pads out of the Rex and fit some new front pads, but no-one had any in stock! I'll have to do them myself when the pads arrive tomorrow.

So now I have the Rex all ready for the next tour to Sydney. I got word that my Sydney contracts are good till end of June, so might have to utilise the new parts and ride up again next time!

Yeah... horrendous.... :kuda: So crap, that it started first crank after 5 months without even a turn over by the missus while I was away! I am bloody happy with it ;) Now just gotta sort out that wayward track bike of mine..... although the schedule is full until the end of June..... might have it in a semi ready state by about August ;)

Dunno Mate?????? :? Mines an 01 and all I do know, is that not many were ever bought into the country. I also know they were about as popular as the pox when they were new. I can understand that, as to look at, they aren't much chop! But to ride.....well....that's a whole different ballgame! :kuda:

Marty & Swabio's are "S" models, as opposed to the "R" model that has the little bikini fairing. The first "S" model was 01 and the last was 03 from memory.

There are a few around and the main difference - apart from the fairing - is the fork springs are slightly heavier. Marty also reckons the fairing does a better job of protecting the rider than his BMW did ;)

It also appears to - um - go OK as well ;)

I also hear on the grapevine that more souls have been assimilated into the collective, now where is the "borg" emoticon....admin....admin
