Unfortunately what you are experiencing is not uncommon Lisa.
Just ask a few other female motorcyclists and you'll discover a fairly common theme.
Try to be careful not to jump the gun as mechanics are rarely good communicators (veiled confession

) and not all are there to rip you off.
I would highly recommend a bit of study ie books on motorcycle repair from library etc , reading the owners manual and or posting up on here.
NOBODY knows everything regardless of age or sex .. Only a fool (or narcicist) would assume otherwise.
***** Pull the rubber cover back on the clutch perch (bracket that lever is attached) and look where cable is attached.... If you pull gently on the cable itself does it slide out of the silver screw looking bit at all(cable adjuster)?
If if feels tight / requires a lot of force , is there exposed thread remaining on the cable adjuster near the 10mm lock nut?
