Bent Pick up knob mount?

Seems there is more damage on the six...... after extracting the ground down pick up knob & fitting the new KANEG ones I discovered that the crash has bent the mount the weld on the photo side is intact but the back is open on one side, so the question is can this be bent back & tack welded on the back or do I have to grind them off & start again in a (flat) different spot?
I am not fussed about removing the swingarm so the repair work can be done on a bench but if there is an easier solution without removal I will try that.
My biggest problem is I cant weld alloy here, only steel & I am not too sure about bending the bent mount if at all possible.
I have gone for the larger knobs because the original small ones worked well but the axil still copped a bit of action so bigger is better.

rob i can help you out with the alloy welding i will talk to my mate and see if he can get me some alloy brazing rods, we'll leave it on and i'll alloy braze it for ya. either that or my mate can tig weld it if ya want

i think the bigger knob will snap the whole lug off if you crashed again, possibly leaving a whole in the swingarm.

i'd be investing in the axle end knobs

i would have it tig welded Rob
alloy brazzing can be messy and if to much heat goes into the swing arm you might end up with a big hole
tig welding alloy in itself is tricky.

Guyz I have decided to not use the original mounts & I am going to make up some axil mounted pick up / crash knobs as per cup cakes suggestion, all I have to do is machine down the knob to slip inside the axil & she's ready to bolt up, this will provide the most
protection & will be stronger than the original mounts
Just realised it means using another stand with flat arms for rear tyre removal & it just so happens I have a spare stand

What the cover Russ? there was hardly any meat left on the original after being down twice on that side & I am not that worried
about the small amount of oil behind the cover it was more to protect the end of the crankshaft & alternator parts.
Just so happens that the local distributor had stock

It's hardness will be compromised if you heat it.

Just get it welded by someone who knows what they are doing! I have had several of these re attached over the years and as long as the guy/girl doing the welding knows there stuff, it's fine.

Just get it welded by someone who knows what they are doing! I have had several of these re attached over the years and as long as the guy/girl doing the welding knows there stuff, it's fine.

Mate I was the Foreman and I saw lots of Scaffold Tubing fail testing because of incorrect hardening.
Since we're pickin, get some glasses, I told "him" not to touch them!
