Clutch Problem Maybe???

Sun Feb 22, 2009 4:13 pm

Hey all

After being given permission to take the sprocket cover off (hey I do have to ask as part of my membership) and cleaning under it along with the chain etc Ive now got an issue with the clutch engaging :(

With the bike turned off and on the stands, if I throw her into 1st gear and have the clutch pulled in the rear wheel wont turn (I didnt try to force it)

With the bike running (yes I kept her on the stands) and I throw her into 1st the rear turns at a slow walking pace. Pull the clutch out and she's running, pull back in and it turns slowly... Would this be a cable adjustment or could it be more serious like clutch plates etc? I havent ridden her in about 6 weeks so could it just be a case of letting her idle for a while to get the oil around?

What do I have to do? (or get someone who isnt going to completely f it to do ;) )

Thanx :kuda:

Mate its normal for the clutch to grab a little, change your oil, then put her back to bed..... & next time ask first :P

+1

If it doesn't turn (will often do same thing in neutral on race stand) you have some serious gearbox / clutch issues..

Perfectly normal mate .

Yep normal mate, my zx9 will do it up on stands when the oil is cold in nuetral and in gear with the clutch in whatever the oil temp.

im think Rob needs to take his bike to Kennards self storage.

get 2 padlocks on the door, 1 for him and one for each of the HCSC members. so he cant open the door without one of us present. he clearly can't be trusted to have such hi tech machinery in his garage un supervised

My bad obviously :? Thought it was a reasonable technical question considering it hasn't done this before... Glad I haven't f'd anything up. May keep questions to private PM's from now on :?
