Throttle quickeners

Hi all,
I'm looking for ideas on how to quicken the throttle on my Z thou.
I rarely hit full throttle, simply due to it being too bloody hard to twist that far around.....
Any ideas?

Do you mean a quarter turn throttle?

Seriously, you know in advance when you want to reef it right on, so just roll your wrist over, take a forward grip and give it the berries! A quick action throttle is a waste of time on a roadbike; normal road use rarely sees the throttle opened more than 30%, even on fast takeoffs, wheelies and overtakes. You really want to sacrifice fine control just so you can have a once-or-twice-daily full throttle kick without having to reach for it?

http://www.doublezracing.com - This is a cheap alternative, $25 worldwide posted. It is just an insert you put over stock throttle tube and then adjust cables. I have one on my racebike, its quicker than stock but i want something even faster for next time.

Daz, i made my own. It was a piece of cake. A bit of an irrigation fitting and a tube of superglue is all you will need. I love mine. It only reduced the travel by about 6 or 7mm but was enough to eliminate the problem as you say. I found on track days it just had too much travel and i had to really concentrate to make sure my hand was in the right position.

I got one from riderforums, but is the same a Matts, just a bit thicker and it gives about one 5th of a throttle turn instead of 1\4, and it is great, you just need to cut some of the cable guide out at each end to stop it from binding.

I've got the double z racing one in my 10.. Its about the cheapest option you'll find, unless you make your own (and it doesn't look that difficult.)
Its not as quick action as a race throttle but a good option for the road / track.
Not sure if he makes one for the z.
Advantage is it uses all the std parts..

The quick action throttle that was on my zxr ran thru a nylon bush and with the flat slides was hard to twist so I bought one of these on ebay (UK) with a roller bearing.

Not too pretty and looked a bit cheap (cost about $40) so I wasn't too sure, but I'm pretty happy with it so far..

Now, on the zx9r, I had a domino quick action.. Very short thro and it was great, a bit more expensive though... I'd get one of these again...

I just checked into these guys. A company called Trialzone imports these and has a distributor in most states. The Vic distributer is JJ Marine in Port Melb, and I'm off to see them Monday. Price is a reasonable $39 and comes as a replacement throttle assy.

Be careful you get the right one... the trials ones aren't always suitable for road bikes...
