BT010 tyres?

Wed Feb 21, 2007 8:25 am

Are they any good?

Should be softer than the BT014 or the BT012 eh?

My new bike has a new dunlop D208 on the front and a BT010 on the rear that has developed a commuter flatspot in the middle about 40mm wide.

I'm a bit dubious about this tyre combo and the squaring off of that rear.

Not sure if you can get them (010) anymore but they were quite a decent tyre, the 012 was a bit stickier (softer) according to people who should know but that's old tech now,try a pair of Pilot Powers, google for confirmation but they're probably the best all rounder on the market.

depends what you want from a tyre Varden. Knowing you, you'll just want something that keeps it on it's wheels for a change!

I have gone through a fair few sets of road rubber of late, with my favourite combo for grip and mileage being a Metzler Racetech K2 front with a Metzler M3 Rear. This gives me about 10,000klms and decent and consistent grip! I have never had the front let go, and only an occasional grease up from the rear, prolly more surface related than anything else!

The Pilots grip as well as the M3's but don't get the mileage.
014's grip mint, but don't last as long.
010's are dinosaur stuff mate!

010's have been replaced with the 012's.
I loved my 012F 020R combo - not sure about the current 014's both ends yet, have to wait and see.
On my old ZX9 I got about 8000kms out of the 012

Read the Construction date on the side Glenn, think you'll find that its at least 5 years old.
Back then they were THE softest Battlax, but don't cut the Mustard in todays market.
Go see Mick the Magician at Goodna
"He'll hook you up".

Oh BTW that dunlop would make a really nice swan for your front yard if you have an old electric carving knife

yea id piss off the 208 too..i hate those things..are they still current?? i ran 208's back in 03??

the 014 isnt a bad tyre entirely..but it takes a while to get heat up!! lasts longer tho... personally i liked the 012 better than the 014...but Pilot powers shit on both of them....

havent tried the pirelli tho (and hear good things abt it- one not being the price)

Well i called mad mick, seems his fax machine is taking his calls now....

I trotted down to Pro kawasaki and got me a dunlop qualifier fitted on the rear. I've found dunlops predictable and forgiving in the past so I hope these tyres ease my transition into Litre bike riding.

Then once the dunslops are rooted I'll go pilot powers!!!
