Word of Warning!!

Last night I decided to check my chain and found it was fairly loose. So I proceeded to adjust the tension when I found one of my adjustment bolts was bent! I quickly thought back and remember getting the rear tyre replaced a few weeks back at Mag Wheel & Tyre Centre in Preston :evil:
The last time I'd checked the chain was before I had the tyre fitted and since it's been done I've hardly ridden the bike. I'm not sure what they were doing but next time I have my tyres fitted there I'll be keeping a very close eye on what they're doing. Last time I ended up with a little scratch on the rim, but figured it could have happened riding home. This is something that doesn't happen riding. Few minutes with the hammer had the problem fixed but I thought I'd warn other people that go there.

I think I might take that option next time. Less things for them to mess up that way. :roll:

:shock: Reminds me of a mate (ProblemChild) - he had a front tyre changed at a local shop that will remain nameless.....

and they forgot to tighten up the pinch-bolts on one side of the front axle !!

He got home OK, but was pretty pissed :x as you would be.......

Have a good look around/over your bike after every service, tyre-change etc. Only takes a minute, could save your life.

Yeah I too have ridden a bike with the pinch bolts loose, on BOTH sides! I didn't take it out on the guy who did it though, coz it was me! :lol: :lol:

Ah well atleast it was only qualifying. I have also qualified with the rear axle nut completely loose (nearly came off) with the rear end going all over the place as the chain held the rear wheel on. So the pinch bolts was a walk in the park.

Then there was the time I did a track day with the steering head nut fully loose, wondering why it was headshaking so much. And the time I tankslapped Barra's Barra636 a couple a hundred metres down the track in 4th cog coz the damper was wound right off. And also the time (on the R1 again) I did a race with only one bolt in the RHS rearset. Never did find that bolt. And then the was the time I had the rear brake pads both on the one side of the disc for a whole race meeting....

For my next trick I am running out of ideas...... But maybe it WON'T involve the front calipers. :shock: Or I might just find a way to get some decent sleep before a race meeting. The Doc says sleeping pills but I fear they wouldn't actually kick in until qualifying, where a repeat of the above is on the cards.

So anyway I guess the moral of the story is check ya bolts n shit guys, all of them. Not that it hasn't been covered before.

Mmmm, can't wait for Morgan Park in December. Just need someone to follow the GPX around with a bucket. 8)

Geez Hemi how are you going to get it up with loose nuts ?? :lol:
