So many vairiables
Take the battery out & charge periodically or it will be stuffed what
time this takes depends...Drain the tank & carbs if you can
Place cover on exhaust to keep moisture out
Etc etc thare are so many things you can do including lube all metal parts
with rust inhibitor

If you want to store it over winter then best look up a Canadian or Eurpean website in regards to storing over winter, they get it seriously cold there and have it down pat, or I guess ask some of the poms on here

2 -4 weeks ain't gonna need anything other than store it on race stands to get the wheels off of the ground and a good clean and polish

mmm I thought by the start of your post you ment for a long time like over 6 months
as stated by rossi just the basics 1 -2 months should be fine but charge the battery as often as you can

charge the battery as often as you can
how do i charge the battery? just start the bike and let it idle for 10 mins?

Best bet is to get a charger.... cheap one from Big W wont cost much
well it will be cheaper than a new batery & its an investment

dont start the bike unless you plan to ride it, plugs foul up something shocking.

dont start the bike unless you plan to ride it,
and if i do how long would that have to be?

how ever long you ride it

just as long as you put it under some load it will keep the plugs nice and clean... infact taking it too easy can lead to fouled plugs too, should always give a bike some curry every time you ride it... plenty of WOT and try and get somewhere near the redline if you can

I have a batery tender on minr it cost 50 bucks and is designed to keep your battery charged over a long term rather tahn being used as a battery charger.
they also call them a batery float, I got mine from battery world but have noticed some at camping shops.
for a couple of weeks just park it, mine was off the road for six months thats why i went to the batery tender.
