ok got to my bike the other night after work and the tyre was flat. it was 4 psi when I got to the servo.
It's only a slow leak from a bit of metal. not a nail, hard to tell what it is exactly, it's still in there.
planning on getting it plugged cos there's still a couple of thousand k's on the tyre.
but...
having ridden it while pretty much flat I recall reading that this will damage the tyre. so what's the story?
what is actually damaged and what are the possible consequences ?
would you commute on it for another month?
going to go to race replica to get it done ... thought I'd check them out since Kris has been posting here.

How far and how fast? If you only limped it to the servo across the road, it won't be a problem. If you rode it 20km at 60kph, the lip of the rim will have ground the folded-over sidewalls to dust, and the tyre will only be good for being doused petrol and placed around a speed camera housing.
If there's only a couple of thousand kms of tread left in the tyre, I'd chuck it. Plugs seem to have a habit of coming off worn tyres...

I am with I-K
any more than a few Ks...and the sidewalls are stuffed!
the rim bead would be chewing up the tyre
so it would only be good for a Gatso necklace

Hey Nikos, I can't advise on the condition of the tyre, but if you're having it plugged, get it patched as well to be sure. Worked just fine for me for another 5000km.

It would have only been flat on the bottom, so the rest should be ok?.....

haha too late buddy! it's plugged and back on :p
so looks like I'll be the one doing the burnout when it's time to replace.

oh and quite impressed with race replica too. Even though I didn't get anything major done to judge them on. the service was good and they're a friendly bunch.
