Get your battery tested, could be on the way out causing hard starting even if it seems to be cranking over OK

and if it needs replacing, go with a *Genuine* japanese-build Yuasa. Not the Taiwan copies.

I have had a jap-made Yuasa in the Black Pearl now for over 5 years, it still cranks it over every time, has never lost charge, and doesn't need re-charging between long stints in the shed. The guy who sold it to me recommends these Yuasas as "the only battery that will start a bike right through a Canberra winter..." - food for thought.

its a yamy thing ... :P

sorry couldnt resist...

how long since its been serviced?? are the plugs healthy and clean?? timing etc is good?? is it carb or EFI?? and either way, has that been looked at lately??

cold weather isnt great for a battery...how often do u ride the bike?? daily?? maybe the battery isnt holding a good charge?? (cold weather would put a bit extra pressure on it)...

i'd get out the ole multi meter and do a battery check 1st..cos its pretty easy... maybe check ur plugs if they arent too hard to get to..??

try the battery 1st... check that its getting enuf charge too.... and that its holding it...

they reckon a bike system doesnt charge til abt 5000rpm or more, so make sure when u test it u give it sum revs (this way u can make sure ur voltage reg is working, and its not cooking ur batt).... do u do really short rides or long-ish rides??
