SCHOOL - 1970 vs. 2010

Scenario: Dave and Rob get into a fistfight after school.

1957 - Crowd gathers. Rob wins. Dave and Rob shake hands and end up buddies.

2010 - Police called, arrests Dave and Rob, Charge them with assault, both expelled even though Dave started it. Both children go to anger management programs for 3 months. School board hold meeting to implement bullying prevention programs

Scenario: Rob won't be still in class, disrupts other students.

1957 - Rob sent to office and given 6 of the best by the Principal. Returns to class, sits still and does not disrupt class again.

2010 - Rob given huge doses of Ritalin. Becomes a zombie. Tested for ADD. Rob's parents get fortnightly disability payments and School gets extra funding from state because Rob has a disability.

Scenario : Billy breaks a window in his neighbour’s car and his Dad gives him a whipping with his belt.

1957 - Billy is more careful next time, grows up normal, goes to college, and becomes a successful businessman.

20010 - Billy's dad is arrested for child abuse. Billy removed to foster care and joins a gang. Psychologist tells Billy's sister that she remembers being abused herself and their dad goes to prison.

Scenario : Dave gets a headache and takes some aspirin to school.

1957 - Dave gets glass of water from Principal to take aspirin with.

2010 - Police called, Dave expelled from school for drug violations. Car searched for drugs and weapons.


Scenario : Rob takes apart leftover crackers from cracker night, puts them in a model airplane paint bottle, blows up a bull ant nest.

1957 - Ants die.

2010- Police, Federal Police & Anti-terrorism Squad called. Rob charged with domestic terrorism, Feds investigate parents, siblings removed from home, computers confiscated. Rob's Dad goes on a terror watch list and is never allowed to fly again.

Scenario : Dave falls while running during recess and scrapes his knee. He is found crying by his teacher, Mary . Mary hugs him to comfort him.

1957 - In a short time, Dave feels better and goes on playing.

2010 - Mary is accused of being a sexual predator and loses her job. She faces 3 years in Prison. Dave undergoes 5 years of therapy.

thats so true, it scary! im only a young tacker but even in the early to mid 90's everything was so much easier and more relaxed

So which KSRC Dave is it who gets bashed up? And which Rob does the bashing?

KIds are still doing the same things today as we did, and as our parents did before that. We handle the kids differently but the issues continue. What next mmmmmmmmm.....

I reckon two chances........ three strikes = sterilisation.......... four strikes = capital punishment

I used to have a teacher at my Intermediate School (Back in NZ) who used to stick your head in a locker when he gave you the cane, that way if you jumped you hit your head as well! ahhh the good old days!

In form 3 (I think it was) we had an arts teacher that used to grab kids by the sideburns or what there was of them, he ended up getting decked by a student who consequently got expelled and in grade 5 I had a teacher Mr Dicky who taught guitar when I was in grade 4, so come grade 5, I get a guitar for my birthday and lo and behold, Mr Dicky got sacked for putting fat on his strap (makes it sting a bit more).

Well i was a very bad lad,Hit the principal in the head with a tennis ball playing brandy(which was not permitted)Kicked a teacher right up the ass with RM williams boots as he was bending over(Sticking up for a mate).Attacked an annoying student with a cricket bat,Smashed another annoying dudes head into a locker door. Squirted the home economics teacher in the face with sewing machine oil,threw chairs at the maths teacher plus a few other lets just say infractions.I wonder what they would do to me now .I ended up working outside the principals office and had different lunch and recees times from the rest of the school but no suspension or expolsion.

Why is it 1970 Vs 2010 when the early date provided is 1957?
