250GP awesome but MotoGP is mundane as in stupid F1?

Postby javaman » Mon May 04, 2009 9:22 am

Watching Jerez race last night. What has become of motoGP? It's like watching F1....Miniscule lap time difference and going round&round the circuit until everyone is settled at their "place". Lead change: 1.

Now the 250... awesome. Even until the last laps there were 3-4 riders battling for win. Lead change: can't count. Sadly so... this category is to be terminated ??????? wtf.

I have to agree there , since the demise of the two smoker 500's nothing much happens anymore unless someone crashes,
the 125's and 250's have better battles for sure.
I only wish they would bring back the world supers to free to air tv , it is more realistic and a shit load better racing. 8)

Actually, I thought last nights race was pretty good. Yes, the lead only changed once, but surely you don't watch the racing only to watch the lead riders? If you did, they might as well only have two bikes in the race.

Some of the movement further back in the field, the difference in the way the tyres were performing, Lorenzo chasing Stoner down and the third different winner in as many races means this season is setting up nicely to be quite interesting.

Having said that, the 250 race was bloody fantastic, and the 125's were equally as exciting.

iamwithstupid.gif and to be honest if you want to be picky, Rossi's win in the MotoGP was more exciting than young Bradley Smith's lone ride at the front of the 125's was.

Rossi picking off Casey then Pedrossa was well worth watching so was the battle between Malandri, Edwards and Caparossi. I thought this was the best Moto GP race this year. I don't think it was boring.

I personally like much more than the actual race...

Qualifying, rider movements etc etc

Hopefully the moto2 will be just as interesting as all will be using Honda engines. Pity we still have to but up with crappy commentary and Daryl's "straightaway"...

No "straightaways" on Fox ;) The 250 race was a corker, but I agree, the MotoGP was probably better than average of late (if still a little processional).

It was better than the previous ones for sure - only because the previous ones were *boring as fucking batshit* - this one was a bit less boring. Don't kid yourselves it was nothing exciting at all - MotoGP will dissapear up its own arse within a few years. It has become the 2-wheeled equivalent of F1 *racing* - they should be prosecuted for advertising that crap as *racing*. Its a qualifiying race for pole position....*yawns - farts - snores*..

I actually fell asleep in the previous weekends MotoGP it was so dead-boring. !! sleepy2.gif

Unlike Leg One of the WSB the other weekend. Now *THAT* is motorcycle *RACING* - when motorcycles actually GO PAST EACH OTHER A COUPLE OF TIMES A LAP, my god they even did it a couple of times in one corner !!!! Simply a fantastic example of what *real* racing can actually produce....close, exciting, fairing-bashing stuff. The ONLY recent MotoGP event that came close to this was the Laguna Seca round last year, and what a whinge session that produced !!!

But this MotoGP issue - its nothing new. I actually stopped bothering to watch the GP's during the 90's, because it was just watching a race to see who came second to Mighty Mick. Now that might sound blasphemous, but so be it. The GP's during his reign were also boring as buggery for the greater part - sure there was the odd race where racing for 1st place actually took place.....but by and large.....well......
