Phillip Island race info

Postby Smitty » Sun Nov 27, 2005 7:18 pm

watching the cars at PI
one thing I noticed (when they put the car telemetry
info at the bottom of the screen) is how alike is some spots
and how different the cars are..to bikes when racing

lap times?
Cars- 1:34..bikes 1:31
top speed down the straight?
Cars 290kmh...bikes 320ish
Turn 1 speed?
Cars 220kmh ...bikes about the same I think
Honda corner speed
cars 65kmh... bikes? don't know what the MotoGP boys do
but I can get around at about 55-60 on the GPx
MG Corner speed
Cars 50-55kmh ..bikes about the same
(and funnily enuff about the same for me)

found all that interesting

(have I got the bike info correct??)

cheers
GOTTA LUV the 12R!!

The motoGP guys are only 65-70 at the slowest point of Honda I think. (But their deacceleration into it and acceleration out of it would leave us for dead)

Lap records.

All types of bike

4 wheels. Open wheelers, touring cars, spots cars, karts etc

A car (V8 Supercar) will actually carry a lot more turn speed, than a bike. As previously posted, it is accelleration and braking where the bikes are quicker.

There are really only two questions in life. 1.Which way do i go? 2.What is the lap record?
