My GPz600R

Postby pkay » Tue Aug 30, 2016 12:43 pm

Well almost finished. After many years I have got my act together and almost completed my GPz60R resto. I can honsetly say I haven't seen another one on the road since I bought it Still a couple of things to sort and then it's all the fiddly adjusting you do at the end of a resto to get things working right. I have attached the beofre and after photo. Biggest issue besides redoing the wiring loom which had suffered a meltdown in the oil pressure switch wiring was that one of the piston skirts had fractured requiring a full engine rebuild. I didn't replace the main fairing but had the side covers and rear painted. The tank was also repainted and took the guy 18months to do excellent results but - I don't use him anymore needless to say. The pipes have been powdercoated for the black and I ended up painting the end cans - I know they were supposed to be polished but the condition of the pipes was average and I was very keen for an original system. I think it looks OK. Now to get it running which is this weekends project.

Looks awesome the GPZ!!!
18 months to paint wow you're very patient. I would have pulled out the spray can by 2nd week

How would you compare it with the 900R?

Thanks Guys - yes well fortunately I had several other projects to work on so the intervening period didn't really get noticed.

Hopefully I will get the first ride this Sunday so will see how it compares to the 900. All the bits I need to finsih her off have arrived. I suspect given the 900 is about three times the length that the handling will be interesting to say the least.....
