The 1990 and above version of this bike has some restriction, smaller muffler, smaller carbs, smaller airbox hole and eventually less HP. Apparently this was done by Kawasaki to make their newer bike feels faster bduh.gif but not sure about the whole story. In any case it's fast enough for me and hopefully there are some gains for doing this like fuel efficiency and low-end torque (??)

I was watching the raind and thought... screw it I'm riding  ... not a bad choice as there were some break in the weather even a brief sunshine!

Today, onto the finer points of the restoration:

Rusted bolts wire-brushed to shine! Saved me from buying a set of new bolts.

Some more rust on the footsteps. Heaps of elbow grease applied for it .. took me half a day for both sides.

The side cover had cracked due to over-tightening by the previous owner. How do I fix this??

Final pic today... getting there!

What a fun day. First time taking the bike onto its paces, riding with CCJMC club. 430km door to door for me of which 27 dinosaurs were consumed. Not very frugal this bikey hey! Bright blue sky at times :). The roads we went through seems like a blur to me at times I was wondering where we are! Busy at times trying to keep up with a flying Gold Wing. I can't believe how something that big could be thrown around the corner like that!

A bit of red mist when some rider with a pillion blasted past us around Gembrook. Tried to catch up but the said rider dissapeared in the distance ^:)^. Coming towards Noojee I'm not sure where everyone were... but desperate for fuel I turned left only to be told by the lady she hadn't sold any fuel for 2 years. Can't believe how long since I rode around the area! ... Luckily another servo was available 7km up the hill. Then I head home throught the back roads of Drouin

Anyone up for a ride??? Or is this forum in hibernation :o
