I made a thread a while back, doesn't seem to be here now. When I get a chance I'll add some pics. I have hundreds of bikes & cars, might be time to do an update photo shoot.

Sounds great Kermet !

I have a few other bike models stashed around here somewhere. I'll also do an update later.
I wanted to show off this particular ZX9R model off the bat as It is a fairly rare and hard to find model. Got this one and I have another one coming from Canada real soon. Same as this, new in box, never been opened. I decided to open this one and actually enjoy it. It sits on my desk here and I have 2 down lights which shines directly over it and accentuates the colours nicely ! I dust it using a nice, soft, microfibre cloth.

I remember when those came out years ago, they'd be harder to get now as they're older but they shouldn't be rare. I still see them in shops from time to time & there's still quite a few going on Ebay, albeit at stupid high prices.

These pics are from ages ago, got loads more since. This would be maybe 30% of my bike collection............................

Gotta get some good shots of all the Minichamps/Wits bikes Ive scored since. Unfortunately, my last laptop died, along with it all the more recent pics I had.

Wow Kermit ! That's a very nice collection there mate !

Thanks for taking the time to post up.

I love these diecast models.

When you say you've seen the ZX9R E/F on Ebay, I can be honest, I haven't seen many at all. I always look and check and have only seen one only recently. As far as shops are concerned, which shops are you talking about ?

ZX9R Man: I use the US ebay site, the Oz one is shithouse. Toys'R'Us did have them for ages but not recently. They have popped up in Big W & Kmart a couple of times. Coles occasionally get things like this, that's where I scored mine but that was nearly 15yrs ago. But they're an old model, they will get harder to find nowdays.

Clarkixlc: If you have plenty of money, go for Minichamps, Wits/Schuco/Milestone or Tetsuba, there'd be other boutique lines around that do small runs but you'll pay for them. Even Tamiya do pre-made models. The cheaper options are Newray, Maisto, Automaxx, Welly & Solido.

Also check out Hot Wheels, Majorette, Ixo, Guiloy & Polistil. The last 2 shut up shop a long time ago but you might find something of interest.

Got my second ZX9R model. This came from Canada. Same as the one one pictured.
It's funny with this particular model where the colour scheme is purley E2 style with the rest of the physical attributes pointing to F series. Such as the rear swing arm and no H bar on the upper fairing. A mix of both ??
I haven't seen this colour scheme on an F series. It is just about line ball in the paint department as my E2 Bike.
I think the newray models aren't too bad really, compared to say, Maisto, which do look like toys. Nice to have as a miniature collection, but I really dig the 1:12 scale models.
I would like to get my hands on a ZX9 minichamp model someday. If someone has one for sale let me know.
Cheers guys !

Just wondering Kermit.

Are the Minichamps models made of metal or a combination of plastic/metal ??

I wanted a model of the 1400GTR, but nobody makes one. So I'm going to build my own.

Newray & Maisto are on par, both look like toys. Newray tend to get dimensions a little more accurate, Maisto have rear suspension, that's the only trade off.

Your model (same as mine) is the F with E graphics because at the time, they made the green F2 like the minichamps one. Being a cheap toy, they'll only make a certain number of parts & just change the colours or fairing/tank/tail for each manufacturer, keeps cost down & fools most kids ;) This is most common for 1/18, 1/12 have more individual styling but most models will share parts. That's why you pay a premium for the likes of Minichamps.

The Minichamps are a combination. Usually even the fairings are metal, most small parts are plastic but the frame, stand, bars etc are metal. Don't be fooled into thinking they're stronger than the toys, these models are more frail than a tissue in the toilet.

This is as close as it gets for now, Tamiya ZZR1400 kit

I'm baffled as to how they choose some bikes to replicate. I can't believe nobody made the 250 Ninja, the biggest selling bike in the world for 5 years straight. Automaxx just released the 300, I have 3 of those, green SE, white SE & all green.

There's plenty of big selling, well known bikes out there & not a toy in sight for it.
