My 2005 ZX12R

Thanks mate. In the pictures the paint looks better than it is. It did have a fall off the stand at one stage and he said he got it resprayed but it wasn't done too well. But I bought it for the motor as I can sort the paintwork out later.

And with 20k on it it is probably one of the tightest bikes I've ridden. I don't even think he has ever ridden it hard at all.

And as much as I loved my ZRX you can just tell this was Kawasakis flag ship. The gearbox is just so precise in comparison to the rexes box.

I'll always have a soft spot for the zrx as it was one of the most fun bikes I have ever ridden even if I didn't get to finish everything I wanted to do to it.

But the raw power this 12 has is ridiculous.

Noice bike mate, I agree with the others the 05 was the pick.
I have had 04 05 and 06 12R's.

The 04 I bought new, the 05 was the best looking being mostly black and the 06 had been messed with and cost a bit to get it right again

The 2004 12R I did most of the mods going around for F'all gain and troublesome tuning with kleenair and CAT removed and learnt they are fine stock except the suspension and brakes were lacking. Maybe a full system exhaust and a pc3 but it is a lot of money for a few HP gain considering there are so many HP's there already I reckon it isnt worth it. You know bang v bling v dollar factor.

The 2005 was stock when I bought it then had Ohlins TTX with remote and racetech valves in the forks fitted, ZX14 nissen callipers/master/Hel lines with Pazzo's, Bar raisers, rack etc, M5 tyres @ - 15000kms

Anyway the 2011 ZX10R finally convinced me the 12 was now slow, until then it was up there and loved big sweepers
This bike was the beginning of the end for sportsbikes for me.


So yeah they are an OK bike.


Pity you were not around 3 months ago when I traded the mint 2005 because I couldn't sell it privately, It hurt to see it go this way

I have a few bits in the shed for this model, I think there is a screen or 2, new genuine headlight in the box, used fuel pump, oil filters K&N, side fairing, the original Tokico callipers and master and lines, Bendix brake pads, original fork/shock springs, original shock with racetec vales and separator/emulator, S/S Yoshi bolt on, bagster tank cover, and a few ventura rack bars but not the brackets. Maybe a few other bits.


So before being talked into some of the tuning mods ask here as a few of us have done it and can tell you what to expect and what gain for your dollar you will get.

The '04-'06 is really the same bike, but just with different colour schemes.

I bought it bog stock a couple years ago from my Uncle (MooseZX12 from Queensland on these forums)

Yeh I'm definitely getting new hoops asap as I've worked out why the thing is so damn heavy to turn in.
The blokes got 190/50 rear on the thing. And from what I've read the stock is 200/50 or people like the 190/55.

Most people run 190/50's on their 12's - they turn in better than the 200/50, but the taller 190/55 just feels so much better again

Yes thats correct, quicker turn

ZX12 on top, ZX14 on the bottom....

Went straight in, just had to tweak the cable adjusters a little bit of course!

Not much special done today however.
Got my bobbins on today and adjusted my Anderson rear stand to suit the big girl.


Also started to de sticker it. I like the clean no sticker look. And for me the 12 has enough angles in its body work to not look too plain.


Just need to do the side panels ( the big ZX12R ones ) and get a new tank pad. I think I'll be going along the lines of a Geelong carbon craft one as I'll be going a few parts on her that will be carbon.



What the Geelong carbon craft pad looks like.
Being a black bike it won't look as big or as obtrusive as it does on the red.

I'll probably grab the triple clamp cover you can see in that pic too.
