Winter Project - 13' ZX636R - NOW COMPLETED - More Pics !!!!

Postby Maccarocks » Sun Jun 15, 2014 9:46 pm

Well I have started another re-build project, but this time it's a Kawasaki !!

I was waiting to pick one of these up, and finally got one - the 2013 ZX636R. :-) Only 2,800k's - This model has the same traction control and electronics package as the ZX10's. It is a perfectly straight bike and I cant wait to get into it.... I have started stripping it down, so here are some early pics to start off with.. Stand by for more updates and of course heaps of build up pics...

Macca. :kuda:

Ha Ha.. Definitely Johnny Mac !!

The 675 was an awesome bike... was doing 47's on that on the 2nd day with the wrong gearing..!! But it was sold so I wasnt pushing..

This one will be a fast one too.. it feels a bit like a mini zx10... :D

This one might be a keeper I reckon.. ;-) But I have said that before..!!!

I am hoping for some good competitive times on this baby mate..

Johnny, I reckon I can get straight into the high 40's for a start... then concentrate more on set up and see how I go..??

It's still got a bit to go though.. so I wont be chasing you for a while yet... ;-)

Anyway I have been flat out with the strip down and replacing everything with new parts, modifying exhausts and basically building it up into an awesome track bike !!! So here are some more pics... with almost everything off... ;-)

Mods to date are - Race throttle & new grip already fitted, Levers, Brake Lever Guard, K&N Filter (in the air-box), Woodcraft Crash Protection, GB racing engine protectors (not completely fitted yet) Exhaust on the way (Graves) & Stock headers getting the cat removed...

Still waiting on a heap of parts.. I hate the wait, but that's part of the build up...

More pics to come as the build up continues....

Haha I'm just looking forward to the level playing field.....

Although it's still won't be level as yours is a 636 with traction control etc etc
But at least it's pretty close. :)

All my bikes are this clean..!! it's the only way to work on them.. ;-)

So Johnny Mac, you are already coming up with excuses..

Cost factor never comes into my rebuilds.. I just make sure everything is completed properly.... tick each box in the rebuild / racebike process and that way I know it will be solid... If I am going to risk my life on it I want it to be perfect..!!!

It will be an expensive rebuild, but why go half way..??

I finished fitting the new engine covers tonight, and then the GB racing covers.. so another box ticked there...!!

Exhaust is being de-catted and will be re fitted tomorrow.. moving along nicely...

Nah Macca just stating fact.
I wish I had done half as many laps of PI as you so I'm just happy with my 44 on my little 6....

Although you always want to go faster. Which I'm thinking I might be able to find a few tenths around the place.....

Re: Winter Project - 13' KAWASAKI ZX636R - Track Build Up !!

Postby Maccarocks » Fri Jun 20, 2014 8:46 pm

OK.. Been working flat out on this machine... and heaps of parts have arrived.. it's been fantastic.. virtually a couple of new parts each day.. :-)

I decided to go with 'Hot Bodies' race glass this time, firstly because they were cost effective and also they where in Australia at MCAS in Sydney...

This glass is an absoloute perfect fit.. I had to do some custom work on the OEM undertray, but after 30 mins with my dremel and a cutting disc, I had it fitting perfectly.. I do have very good attention to detail, so you will see by these pics how good I have been able to fit everything.. I even like to trim around the crash knobs so there is absoloutley no rubbing at all. I will also always rubber mount the fairings (have done this on every one of my bikes) it will definitely save the fairings from cracking.. It is always best to get the glass to fit without any stress or pressure on the joins.. and this set went on very relaxed.. very happy with the job..

So the other night I re fitted the new engine covers and GB Racing protectors.. I also re-fitted the 'de-catted' headers, and tonight I have fitted the race glass.. still waiting on the new radiator, so the race glass pre-fit came first...

Pics for you all to check out... enjoy
