Attach both cables to throttle tube- non elbow cable to the front- stick front half of switchblock onto throttle tube and hold. Whilst holding front switch to the handlebar, locate elbow bit - has a little slot in it that must engage the switchblock front half at the bottom. Once you have done that and holding the elbow cable against the front switchblock, locate the rear half on and screw together. Easier if you are born with four arms.

Finally got the bike back together this afternoon.
Unfortunately things haven't exactly gone to plan. Moved the fuel tap to prime and straight away I've got fuel pissing out the new foam pod filters... not a good start. Isn't there an overflow pipe on these things??

Figure I'd check to see if it runs at all, after about 30 seconds cranking it fired up running like absolute crap. Won't idle, smoking like a chimney, reeks of fuel etc.

Anyone have any bright ideas on what the hell I've done wrong?

Stuff I've done since it was last running:
- Removed airbox and fitted pod filters
- Removed kleen injection system and fitted blanking plates
- Removed all the carb heater circuit crap from the carbs
- Joined the vac hoses from carb 1 & carb 4 together (couldn't find any decent caps to just block them, and the t-piece to the kleen system was obviously no longer needed).
- Fitted dynojet stage 3 kit as per the instructions (with the 126 mains). Cleaned the crap out of the carbs while I was at it. Apart from fitting the new needles and changing the main jet I didn't touch anything else on them.
- Had the bike just about completely apart due to painting the frame. 95% sure I've plugged everything back in the way it was though (did take it apart weeks ago however and many beers have been consumed between then and now so memory is a little hazy :P).

Can a stuck float or crap in the carbs cause it to run so terrible? I'm thinking there must be something else I've missed.

Alright... after reading through the manual I've just figured out I had the 2 carb vents joined to each other which wouldn't have been helping things

Starts up much easier now, however fuel is pissing out the left hand vent hose.

My GPZ900R used to do that after a carb disassembly- the metal float needles were a bit worn- a little ring around them- but once I had ridden it around the block it would clear and be OK from then on.

Bit more reading and I found issue #2.... I had the left hand coil plugged the wrong way around. Swapped the red/black wires over and its running better again. It will actually idle now (rough as guts still - but an idle none the less) which is a good sign.

It is still pissing fuel out the LH vent hose though and smoking like a chimney even after running it for a few minutes so the carbs will have to come back off again.
Can't say I'm looking forward to having to do that farkin throttle cable assembly again... :x

I'm hoping it'll be easier second time round (I can dream...)

Getting the bastard pod filters to stay on the carbs actually proved to be the biggest challenge, the normal sized hose clamps they came with were useless as they would just slide off soon as you start to do them up. Ended up using cable ties in the end and have ordered some narrow hose clamps which should hopefully do the trick.

On to some positive news, bled up the new Nissin callipers this evening. Haven't even moved the bike yet and they already feel 1000 times better than the old 6 pots. Really nice and firm feel at the lever, and this is with the standard rubber lines still. Ridiculously easy to bleed as well, only took 10 - 15 minutes all up.

The Nissin's are the dogs bollox, once you have had them there is no comparison to the old 6 pot tokiko's. I have the std M/C and it works brilliantly with them. My mate Shaun has the radial Tokiko's 0of the 2011 ZX-10R with a radial M/C as well, it feels pretty good too but I actually prefer the feel of mine with the std OE ZRX M/C.

Good luck with the problem solving

Thanks mate, its going for a service this arvo. The guy that has taken over the workshop does good work, had the Z done a few weeks ago. Will be interesting to see what she does on the dyno this time as the Z had 5 more HP than last time.

Getting ready for the trip to the Island for the GP, I just love riding my ZRX.

On another note, one of my mates who lives in Brivegas is riding to the GP with us on his ZRX, looking forward to riding with him again as its been two years.

Kewl. Is your mate on here?
Can't really define what is so attractive about the ZRX. I was hoping to maybe swap my second ZRX with someone with a Z1000, but now I have done a couple of thousand kms on it, I want to keep it. Makes no sense having two of the same bike. One to look at and one to ride I guess.
Must have sold quite a few of the ZRXes. I know of at least 9 here in Toowoomba with a population of 100000km. I'm sure there are others.

No, he's not on here, but he has just joined the ZRXOA. ;)

We'll have his stock ZRX modded soon enough.....especially when I let him ride mine on the way to the GP

One of our blokes in Toowoomba had a ZRX, nailed a roo on the way to work one day though

I'm in mighty woomba on Monday night with our new Plant Manager (Vinidex), staying at the beautiful Burke and Wills with probably a few brews at the Gladdy.
It's really all about standing around drinking Dave's beer.
