G'day just thought i would share the initial part of my upcoming project with you all, I took delivery of my kz650 on the weekend and dropped it in for a roadworthy check to see what it needs yesterday, I also received wire spokes for front & rear " sounds good but I haven't picked up a spanner yet" anyway here are a couple of pic's of what I am starting with including the donor bike in the background.

thanks for the heads up al, I was saying to gosling1 your's was my inspiration prior to my decision on which bike to buy, you have done a beautiful job you should be proud of what you created & no I won't steal your colours, but if you don't mind I might just annoy the crap out of you "not IF but WHEN I get stuck"

Six months later & the whole thing has changed, G'day all
This is the start of my z650 resto
With the intention of doing a caf'e racer build on it, the bike arrived late August 2010 & as a bit of a bonus laurie who I got it from had a donor bike for an extra $200.00
When they arrived I thought this is in not bad shape, just get it sorted for roadworthy / rego and pull it down later, so off to Gassit motors it went.
Somewhere between then and December and to be honest I don't know how it changed, but I now am doing a full resto on the original bike & will be doing a caf'e build on the donor bike.
With this taking longer than expected due to work commitments I went and bought a 85 Gpz750r got it on the road " as rough as she looks" but this is my hack until I get at least one of the 650's going then I will fix the 7fiddy up then.PHEW!!!
Anyway the progress to date:

The early 650's had a metal flake green that was not quite as lime as that one, but would look pretty awesome if it was done with that much flake in it.
