Well Peoples... I finally did it. I crossed over and swapped my Honda for a Kawasaki.

What a hoot of a little bike.
19500kms on the clock. Looks and rides like a brand new bike hey. Had this little thing doing the 230 out back of Beaudesert today and it still wanted to go on with it. What a gutsy little sports bike. Definitely a lot more comfortable to ride than the VTR.

Incidently...I went on my first Pillion ride on a 2005 CBR1000 RR today.
Holy F@#KIN Hell. 140 kph in first gear........ That' s just ridiculous.....
An absolute EVIL piece of machinery Honda.

Well done on the ZZR, being a former owner of a 94 model can I give you one tip.

Put an Ohlins rear shock with longer spring in - same as used when they were racing them and re-valve the forks and you will be a happy camper . I was for 95000 k's......Oh a 4-1 exhaust also does wonders

What's with the 76xxx on the speedo then 19xxx on the tacho?

Nice looking bike, I had a '98 and yours is a much better colour.

BTW Tim's right, doesn't the clock say 76282.7km, not 19500km?

And beware the fuel guage. It hardly moves for 200+ kilometres and then zooms down to zero in no time. The reserve is hard to switch on the fly with gloves on too...

ZZR6's had dual trip meters, one on the speedo (as well as the odo) and one on the tacho. Good for trips, use one for the fuel stops and one for the overall distance

Honestly? I haven't the faintest idea. Its got 77,000 kms on one and 19500 on the other.
My VTR had 110,000k and NO fuel gauge... So i figure I'm ahead on two counts there. LOL
I'm wrapped...

So what kind of range would one expect from a full tank sitting on hwy speed?

..noice!

Nice pickup. Just like my one.
The rear shock is rubbish,
the speedo is optimistic (try putting a gps on it and see what 230 really is ),
I get better than 320km to a tank in touring mode,
the fuel gauge is just a rough guide,
and the right hand tripmeter is there for those of us who figure that out.

Mine used to suck fumes and start to want to die in the arse at approx ~340-350km, but keep in mind I didn't thrash the old girl and she had a fairly sedate life. When I picked it up from the dealer it had what looked like 3/4 of a tank. Less than 150km later I was pulled over on the side of the Tulla freeway in rush hour wondering wtf the reserve switch was. After that always kept it full . When you pull the tank off you'll see why the last 3/4 of movement of the guage only equates to about 1/4 of the fuel - the damn thing is mostly hollow where the air-box intrudes into it.

Great little bikes though, and not bad looking too in an 90's old-school way.

And if it dies before you switch it over to reserve they are usually a pig to get going again. I keep mine filled up too ... when I'm not riding the Honda.
