I've a soft spot for the C model (I'm a Phil apprentice too I guess ), but I think they're the best of the 9's (sorry Dave#3).

Also, any knowledgable hoons out there that can explain the major diffs between the b, c and e? .. obviously being complete different models, but more so the not so good features that I should be aware of now owning the C (which I now think is the best model .... only cos I now own one )

I've also had it for 9+ years, done 130K on it and dare I say it, but I reckon its possibly the best setup road 9 here.

Alot of the guys who ride 9's now - rode mine - and then bought one...ty, Shaun, Rod just to name a few

As Tony said they are not old, and they are certainly the best do-it-all road bike ever.

BTW be carefull with those tyres if they have been sitting for 2 years, they may be a little hard and not offer the grip they would have in their prime

OK, the C model was 40 odd kilos lighter then the previous model and was a completely new design. Welded subframe and 180 rear tyre. 46mm rwu forks and 300mm disks. Your C2 should have 4.5mm min thickness disks as well. The original C1 had 4mm min thick ones that were a little prone to warping with lots of track work. I was hooked as soon as I rode one, had to wait a year but ended up with the bike of my dreams.

The E model had a bolt on subframe, swingarm was a little different in the shape but same length, frame was slightly different, fork offset was changed. 20mm bigger disks and the twin headlights. I think it was supposed to have 1 or 2 hp more but was also suseptible to an on off throttle problemapparently. None of the E's that I have ridden seem to have suffered from it. 190 rear tyre on a half inch wider rear rim.

The F was a major change, new body work with a different ducktail and fairing brace. Braced swingarm, another new engine that was slightly altered just making sure none of the exhausts you can get will only fit one model Frame changed slightly. I think the disks may have chaged in size but the brakes were chaged to 4 piston nissins from the Tokico 6 pistons that were on the C & E models.

Plus an upgrade to a 32 bit ECU, carbs almost the same as the C series (the E were different, closer to the zx7r carbs than the C or F carbs), clip-ons below the triple clamp instead of above, larger front axle (same a s J series 6), factory seat cowl and a lug for a steering dampener on the left side of the frame.

I didn't have to ride Phil's 9 to want one, but as soon as I heard his Akra I had to have one too .... it took a while, but I love mine and wouldn't trade if for any other exhaust.
