Mick C's New Bike

Fri Mar 23, 2007 8:42 am

Well it had to happen eventually. I couldn't be the only member of the HCC-HTFU with only one bike in the shed. I couldn't be the only member of the HCC-HTFU that didn't have a bike from 3 decades ago. So here she is, although I haven't got a name for her yet. She's a 1976 Z650B1 that the previous owner has bored out to around 720cc. There's obviously a bit of work to be done to get her on the road again, including new air filters, new tyres, new rectifier and maybe battery, god knows what else....but there is plenty of potential there after a good clean up.

I got her off a guy at work who used to ride it regularly until he went overseas for a while then couldn't afford to get her running again. I know from a previous ride he came on that she sounds pretty nice.

I'll be keeping track and taking photos of the work done, and I plan to take significant advantage of Gos's vast knowledge of all things Zed...and possibly one or two hard to find bits out of the 4th Dimension if he can be bribed to part with them

Anyway here she is...

With the cuntagessness of older models perhaps the site could be renamed from KSRC to KSRCWAFFOSNBUWC.com - Kawasaki Sportsbike Riders With A Fetish For Old Shit Nobody But Us Wants club.
Seriuosly though good one! You are one lucky bastard able to live out a dream / passion many of us yearn for - to have something you can call a classic in the garage. My missues defines Junk as anything that smells oily, is made from rusty steel and just gets in they way, I define junk as anything that smells like lavander, has no useful purpose and takes up space around the home that could be better utilised for storing parts. Mind you I am a little sour tonight http://www.ksrc-au.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=15290
