Mate, good luck.

The training mob I worked for had one of these albeit the older pre electric start version (oh and the decompressor was pharked). What a mission to get started, but what a beast when it did

I had a KLX650RR which had the same basic engine design and that was a bitch to start as it too had no electric starter. It would be the hardest on the side of a hill to start if I stalled it and was easier to roll start the thing. :?
Still one of the best dirt bikes I ever had, only one problem I came across was the timing chain had streched a small bit in one spot and was fixed on later models I believe. Also after a really hard thrash I had to cool it down riding around for a while otherwise it would spit its coolant. (I had the coolant system leak tested and was fine)

Shane-Oh

Like your bike,,,, Gosling1 is right put some sticky tires on it, and turn it into a motard. you will be very pleasantly surprised how well that thing handles.

It a KX500 with a port job, Pro-Circuit pipe, marvic wheels, mongrel (bitsa) front brake and lowered both ends.

Used to be a ton of fun around the track and I could out brake just about anything except some 125s on it. The 125 weren't a problem though, I'd just pick them up on the exit again. Had the rear in the air a lot.

Sold it in 2000 and it went north to some guy who works(ed) at Whales in QLD, hopefully it's still going strong up there. Really easy to own track bike - if you drop it you'd just pick it up and keep going!

It used to hate high speed tracks like P.I. though, it'd weave like a bastard on high speed sweepers - the frame was just to flexible around the head stem. Fantastic at Broadford, Winton even Mac PArk in Sa.
Just one more law and everyone will be safe.
