G'day From Northern NSW

Postby Matty C » Thu Aug 05, 2010 10:44 pm

Hi Folks

Just picked up my, new to me, 97 ZZR 1100 this afternoon... yippee!! :) Been on a GS 500 for three years and its a big step up  Planning to go to Phillip Island this year and needed a proper ride. She's absolutely beautiful but a little bit scary... amazing torque. I guess I'll be looking for some advice re maintenance and stuff as she has 83 K on the clock, but I'm assured she has been looked after (thinking fork seals after giving her a good go over at home). What do ya reckon??

Thanks guys... I been in touch with the bike shop and asked about the fork seals as a warranty job... still to hear back. I notice on the receipt that bikes over 3 yrs and 30 000 km don't have to have warranty offered. The way I see it is they'll keep my business if they do it and if they don't well... I won't have much good to say about them.
Am I being unreasonable?? Bike was $5500.

cheers Matt

Welcome aboard!

Worth asking about some warranty work....they can say yes or no....yes would be nice but no isn't going to be the end of the world.... :D

G'day and Welcome Matty.......... You will love the ZZR, great bike, I did two PI trips on mine when I had it.........
Like you said, there is no warranty, but see what they say, let them know you will use them for parts, servicing etc and they should look after you, or at least do the job at a reduced price.......... Also, just check there is no dirt around the rubber and give it a good wipe over as sometimes this causes fork seals to weep, if that's the issue.....

I live at Eltham, between Lismore and Ballina Glen...

Good news the bike shop has agreed to replace the fork seals at no cost to me!! :D I left it there this morning and they gave me a loner, brand new Bonny, to ride to work and back in the arvo, lovely bike to ride but a bit down on power after the ZZR. Anyway its booked in for the work next Thursday. They also managed to dig out the bike's old leather bagster tank cover and sheepskin seat cover!! I'm stoked and can't say enough about Mick and the boys at Lismore City Bikeworx, its a great shop and they'll have my loyalty for some time.
cheers
