Mechanics Daughter

G'day,

Coming from a background of grease, fumes and noise, i've always had bike blood in me. From the time i could stand with the aid of a hot bike exhust and graduating to standing for hours on my little leg after tilting over a racing sidecar (I didn't for the life of me drop it! because i knew my arse would be sorer than my legs!!) the natural progression was to get legal on the road.

After wiping myself out on a tree riding my brothers 125 Honda Twin.. No fault of the bike.. i was clearly going too fast and took an unrecoverable line into the corner...hard lesson learnt..I called dear old dad to organise transport, which he so obviously did not want to deal with, i rode the mangled bike back through the bush, past the cop shop 15 km home. Then proceeded to strip the bike, salvage what i could and order parts. It was then suggested to me to get to the doctors to address the blood seeping through the my jeans pant leg. Nothing major, just concussion, cuts, scratches and a brusied ego.

The Honda Twin (which still to this day has a 90 degree dint in the tank) was superseeded by the Kwaka ER5. A tough little bike for a tough little nut.

There wasn't anywhere i couldn't take that bike, but the most amazing and exhusting ride was from Corryong to Threadbo. Going up wasn't a problem, but the bike and speed control coming down used musscles i didn't even know functioned. In 38 degree heat i couldn't wait to get to Ghai, where i proceeded to eat lunch on the boulders in the river. It was just magic, the silence was only broken when a bike came screaming through the gears on the way down the mountain.

Valentines this year i was feeling sorry for myself being recently separated from my partner who i had discovered was batting for the other team, i bought my ER6f. I am very happy with my little bike, but i'm keeping an eye out for something with a little more power and weight.

I'm 31 (Tomorrow!!) and from country Vic. I ride everyday to work and do about 400km on weekends. I also make it a point to ride to the Superbikes and Moto GP at the Island every year. I'm always looking for more adventures...and plan to do the Postie Bike Challenge next year....

Happy trails, Happy to chat :P
Possum

PS - I still couldn't bare to part with my ER5 so she's still stabled in my shed.
