synapse vs Hurricane Alix

Postby synapse » Fri Dec 10, 2004 6:04 pm

Hey all,
Got my bike today,
ill say it again, I GOT MY BIKE TODAY.
im so exstatic, i reckon now that i finally have a bike, I can post on these forums and firstly ill crap on about my day

the day started off good, my bike was ready to pick up (91model zzr250), woke up my brother and started the 1 1/2hr trip to get the bike. Half way there i remembered i forgot my L plates, stop in at the RTA and of course they are out.
So we head on down to the shop, my brother gets hungry and we have to stop for lunch, it then starts to sprinkle.
ok no worries, i can ride in a sprikle, get to the shop, pay the man and im on my way.
To cut a long story short, half way home we stop at some traffic lights and i msg to my bro that i think i need petrol (started doing big air movements like i was filling up, he's like "what, yeah i know its raining a little" ffs), he finally pulls over into a side street and i pull over to find a leccy cable is laying on the exhast and has started melting thru.
FUCK, no worries i fix that up and then i remember i havent stuck the rego sticker on the bike so i get the sticker out and see that there is no holder for it, shit i put it in my pocket in the hope that if a copper pulls me over for the homemade L plate that i made and sees i have no rego i can just flash it to him.
2 mins down the road, BAMN my bike stops, shit shit shit, the oil light comes on WTF, it cant be low on oil. Long story short it had run out of petrol (this took a good 1hr to fix, bloody oil was fine and then i had to find a servo to get the petrol)
Finally get the bastard running again, SHIT, its now the start of peak hour traffic and im still 10k away from the M4, and this is my 4th time riding a motorbike.
Hit the M4 and in blows Hurricane Alix, its absolutely pissing down rain, im scared that the rego sticker in my pocket is going to go to shit and theres the possiblity it might start hailing, plus the bloody traffic.
1hr later, arrive home absolutely sopping, with the biggest bloody grin on my face. The only problem?... its another 4days before i get the time to go for a ride again.

And i have a question, the bike is idling at 4 1/2, is this ok?
Thanks,
synapse

Ahh, another local and yes it is pissing down isn't it...

Don't worry about the 4 1/2 idle speed, it will stop compression lock ups on change down and you won't have to use the throttle for most of your riding... Just call it cruise control...:-)

That is if your talking 4500rpm, and if so I'm joking... It should idle at about 1000rpm

Welcome Champ, Enjoy!!! And yes you should have that idling looked at just a tad high, but if you want to get 80k's from a tank it should be fine!!!

Welcome. nice choice of bike

zzr 250 should idle at 1100 to 1300.
first check the choke isn't on :)
the lever for that is on the left handlebar.
otherwise the idle adjustment knob is on the left side down low just below the weld on the frame. little black thing. there's a pic of it in the manual (if you got one)
