Welcome aboard Matt - with a CV like that, mate you will be a popular member !!!

Hemi - the issue you are looking for is Rapid # 2 - Oct/Nov 2004. it has the NCR Macchia Nera on the cover. The ZXR featured is a really nice piece of kit. I think the disc rotors originally featured in 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre'........

Bike info

Postby MBP » Wed Jul 06, 2005 8:50 pm

Hey everyone,

Ment,

I currently have a Silver / Black ZX7R with the following modifications.
Carbon Fibre bars (made myself), nylon end weights, nylon axle sliders, Carbon fibre ram air tube covers (made myself), adjustable ignition advancer, dyno jet kit, airbox modified, ram air tubes modified, K&N filter, assorted cans Kerker / Yoshi, tinted screen, single seat cowl (made myself), LED flush mount blinkers (made myself), aluminium exhaust hanger bracket (made myself), 520 chain conversion with aluminium rear sprocket, short light weight Aluminium chain guard (made myself), Superbike sticker kit.
As you can probably see im all about performance and making my bike lighter.
Im also working on at the moment - Carbon fibre / aluminium rear sets, rearset adjustment plates, carbon fibre ram air tubes, carbon fibre air box, fibreglass tank, pillion bar flush plugs.
Im looking for some race fairings (any condition), spare engine (Worn condition and Cheap) and flatside carbies if anyone knows of any can they email me.
I also plan to do some high velosity porting to the intake ports.

If anyone needs any of the parts that i make just drop me an email.

HemiDuty,
Josh's ZXR750 Turbo are in the following mags
Performance STREETBIKE, Number 82
Rapid Bikes, Oct/Nov 2004.

ty,
Mate i ride the nasho pretty often it takes me about 40mins to get there as i live in the Camden area, i rode it 2 weeks ago and it was pretty slippy and had a couple of slides coming out of a few corners.
Let me know when the next one is, i would be more than happy to come riding.

Cheers,

Matt

Wow MBP your 7 sounds awsome man!!!

A couple of questions -
1. Where did you get the adjustable ign advancer, and how much did it cost? Did it make much difference? Do you need to dyno the bike to set it up properly? I am thinking of getting one for my 7, as it has a fairly noticable flat spot at around 8,000 rpm. Mine just has a full race exhaust with custom alloy can, K&N filter and jet kit. On the Dyno charts I got with the bike (113 rwhp) you can see the flat spot. Would the advancer help get rid of it?

2. How have you modified the airbox and ram tubes? Does it make much difference?

3. Can you make and sell the exhaust hanger bracket? As mine is a trackbike I have no need for the rear footpeg part of the bracket.

Thanks mate, would love to see a pic of your 7 too.

Ignition advancer / flat spot

Postby MBP » Thu Jul 07, 2005 9:31 pm

Hey HemiDuty,

The ignition advancer was the first mod that i did as the bike already had the jet kit when i bought it, i found that the advancer made the bike rev quicker and more responsive to throttle imput, you don't need to dyno the bike to tune it you just take the standard one off, set the advance of the new one and bolt it up simple as that.
It is a Factory brand ignition advancer cost me $120.00 and should be available at your local bike shop.
I also put a set of NGK CR9EK twin electrode spark plugs in.

FLAT SPOT
I noticed a similar flat spot on my bike but very slight, i got rid of the vacume / pollution module under the airbox and plumbed the carbie float bowl vents to the airbox. This basicly lets the same amount of pressure into the carb float bowls as the airbox, this mod extremely smoothed out the bikes fueling injects more fuel when needed and you can run smaller jets standard ZX7R main jets are 180/190 the dyno jets are 126.
The ram air tubes have these huge bowls attached to them these bowls are for 1 making the ram air induction quieter, slows the velocity of air moving through the pipe, i cut the bowls off and plastic welded plates on the bottom until i finish my carbon ram air tubes.
Check out this link for how to do airbox / carb mod with pics.

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/webzxr/zxr750r/index.html

Go to Tech Tips then Float bowl vent mod in pictures.
While you are there check out Kens tips lots easy mods for a little more HP.

Hope this helps with the flat spot it cured mine.

I can make the exhaust hanger if you require one its made from 4mm aluminium and has holes drilled and countersunk for lightness (and the race look).
Currently fits the standard mounts same as the rear bracket.
You could have any the following finishes.
Plain Aluminium - $45.00 + postage
Aluminium painted Matt black - $50.00 + postage
Aluminium painted Satin black - $50.00 + postage
Polished Aluminium - $60.00 + postage

I can post a pic of the one on my bike but im still finding it a mission to get the photo to a decent size they are currently 466KB i can email one to you if you like.

Hope the info helps.

Cheers,

Matt

Glad to be of assistance hemiduty if you need and tips or any questions on how to do any mods just ask mate.

Neka79 - i have done endless mods and owned many different bikes most jap brands, i have had a little experience with the 929 as a mate of mine raced one in formular xtreme a few years ago but he has since totaled it and don't have access to one so i can't make anything up for them at the moment.

Welcome mate,

Someone or people have posted b4 what all of us members do or can do to assist in some bike related way or anything for that matter (trade wise Nathan). Better to assist a mate than see him/her suffer at the hands of a rouge....

Post pics of ya scoot when ya get the chance.

Cheers
