Woody from the MRRDA

Thu Feb 19, 2009 2:05 pm

I currently have in my garage two ZXR400’s which I race, A Z550 which is the first bike I ever bought brand new in the UK and have had shipped over (in the process of stripping and rebuilding) and a 1996 ZX9 which I raced in the 97 and 98 six hour endurance races and now have back on the road as my “Roadie”. Unfortunately I’ve recently had to sell my KLX400 due to a lack of funds. My other bikes I’ve owned include a Z200, Z400 (twin), ZX10, Z1000ST and a ZZR1100. As a favour I run Broc Parkes’ website for him which of course is now very green. So you might say that I’m pretty happy that Broc is finally in green! (he’s been a mate for many a year). For my sins I also run the MRRDA series where our young road racers are now cutting their teeth and the trusty ZXR400’s rule the roost in the 400 State of Origin races.

The MRRDA has now opeend the doors for people to become members, help the budding young road racers and as members reap a number of rewards. With the current economic climate we've put it all in place for people to join up, help the series, help young riders and help themsleves while they're at it. Have a look at http://www.mrrda.com/public/members.html Broc Parkes and Chris Vermeulen are both MRRDA Members.

I'll be at the island with my mate Broc doing PR for and cheering on team green. I'll also be at corner 1 to try and add to the green there at some point and on the Draggin Jeans stand in the expo hall signing up MRRDA members. As always, busy but fun.

Glad you joined up Woody.

Come and see us at turn 1 for a beer or 2.

btw, How was the old zx9r on the track.?
Might make a good bike for the PCRA, The Barry Sheene Meeting is only a few weeks away.

G'day and welcome mate.

Your Green pedigree is certainly strong. You'll have to get a sticker or two from Dave and whip 'em onto Broc's bike :)

MadKaw - thanks and the old ZX9 is a bit heavy these days for track work + I've returned the rear shock to something more road oriented, taken the steering damper off and put back the original can after I got pinged for having a "noisy" bike! So I might just stick to the trusty ZXR400 for the track.
