What a fabulous day.
Once we got out of town it was a series of short hard rides and rest stops, just the way it should be.
Duane, Dean and I left Point Cook at eight to fuel up and meet Mina, Greg, Simmo, Bobbi, Rorrock, Ken and Scotty at Deer Park.
Ronster led with Greg at the rear playing watchem as we coasted down the freeways, over the bridge to Brighton Kawasaki.
Hooked up there with Dan, Smitty, Rob (he got up too early), Nikos, Tony, Corby and Javaman (a newbie).
These sixteen bikes thundered down the Nepean at a gentle rate in search of Rossi and Jan who were laying on the grass having a smoke outside Maccas. Not sure what they had been up to before we arrived.
Ronster gave himself the elbow as leader as he was two up and too slow and appointed Rob to lead the ride down through Mornington, along the beach twisties and up to Arthurs Seat.
A fantastic hour or two of cutting laps up and down the mountain was enjoyed by all. I’ve never seen so many bloody cars going up that road as there were today which of course only added extra interest !!!
Bobbi creamed them at the mountain, well done girl.
Dan kept talking about food so we eventually caved in and hit the Rosebud Hotel for some much deserved tucker. The sheila on reception was having trouble finding a table for eight when we got there and gave us a strange look when we said we wanted a table for eighteen. No worries, piss off into the beer garden and grab the tables required. An hour later we all staggered out having had too much tucker and not enough beer.
It was now about 3:00 pm and we were starting to worry about the Ballarat guys getting home late. After due consideration we decided “stuff ‘em” and went back up the mountain and out to Red Hill in a big loop ending, you guessed it, at the bloody mountain. A couple more laps and we headed home the way we’d come.
I thank my fellow riders for a great day, great company and many laughs.
