Thrusday Ride in the Gold Coast Hills 16/12/04 Cast n Crew: Yankee(Marty), Jibbers(Christian), Big Kev, Hammer(Stu) & Pontikat(Brett).
At 8am I met Marty, Jibbers & Big Kev at Whalers, we phoned hammer & woke him up , poked down to the Goldie and hit some light rain just before Southport, so we went for early petrol at Arundel to dodge the rain. Back out to the freeway and into GC Kwika. Light rain continued for an hour as we mucked with suspension set ups & had morning tea. SMS from Stu said we were being missed out at Advance Town so we rounded up Jibbers from selling his 6 to all the dealerships & headed out toward the grey skys.
Nearly At the picnic area before Natural Arch and some "GUN" rounded us all up doing Mach 5 on a blue 03 ZX9R..... oh that was Hammer, wasn't it ?. Arrived at picnic area and soon Marty was hitting on the birds (see Pic) and we had a bit of a yarn about all things bikes. Jibbers had to bail as his Young Fulla was sick (hope he’s better soon mate). Hammer, Kev, Marty n I went south on dampish roads to Chillingham, Murwillumbah and then onto the Tumbulgum Pub on the River for lunch. Weather turned during lunch and dried up all the rain, so we decided to check out a new bit of road (for us) between Murwillumbah & Chillingham through Tyalgum.
Kev and Stu had swapped 12r for 9r so all bets were off. Hammer was impressed by Kev’s 12R’s “Real Horsepower”, I think he stopped like 5 times in about 20ks for us to catch up. Marty was getting his "groove on", Kev felt like he was on a pocket bike on the 9r & "Tiggr" rounded up a certain blue 9r with 143 rwhp and we all got a little air time & tested opposite lock at about 130ks on a certain bumpy right hander . This called for big discussions on suspensions including some 12r tweakage.
After that back down past Natural Arch with Kev terrorising me on the 12r. It sounds like you’re about to go under a MACK truck as he ROARS down into tight corners. Waved the stirrer through and he was gone till he had a Big Moment.
Last stop for afternoon tea was at the Numinbah Cafe. We re-mounted & Followed Hammer over his favorite roads(Goat tracks) through Mount Tamborine & back into Brisvegas at about 4pm.
Absabloodylutely Shagged when I got home . Improving weather, some good roads, good food, awesome bikes, & great Company. Overall a top day.
