Before the ride report it is imperative that we understand that the Japanese gods of bad weather, Honda San and Yamaha San had conspired all week to stuff up the KSRC ride and BBQ. With every weather report in the free world proclaiming rain to fall on our chosen route at the exact time we would be there, we set off anyway.
Ian and Jan met Rossi and Linda, Orlando, Dan and Chrisco at the Shell Westgate who then picked up Ron and Duane at Shell Laverton. We took in the delights of traffic and straight roads until we cleared Werribee and the ride leader took the opportunity to slightly up the tempo.
Mario and Mina joined us in Melton South for a brisk run up to Merrimu Reservoir where we stopped for a smoko and to let the tyres cool abit. Orlando had a throttle sticking I think, the bike was revving pretty hard as he went past the ride leader. He was reigned in. However, when we inspected the bike at the reservoir, the problem seemed to have fixed itself.
The run from the reservoir to Gisborne and onto Riddles Creek was a bit quicker than expected. Following a few rides as tail end Charlie, I think the ride leaders ZZR 1100 felt an unaccustomed freedom and decided to stretch its legs abit. (apologies to 6, 7 and 9 owners who obviously don’t have enough gears).
We stopped at Riddells Creek for a break and were joined by Karen, Rob, Brad and Paul, a couple of newbies. On then to Mt Macedon, where Rossi and I found a truck across the road trying to re-arrange our life schedules, and up to the cross via Romsey. The temperature dropped about ten degrees up there and was probably the cause of Robs cold tyre re-design. Hope it's not too expensive mate.
More than one stomach could be heard rumbling by this time so it was a quick dash back to Point Cook. Unfortunately, on the road down from Gisborne to Toolern Vale, Orlando's sticky throttle problem re-occured. Mario and I gave chase and when we caught up the problem seemed to have to fixed itself again. There's probably a KAWASAKI bulletin about the fix for the throttle somewhere Orlando.
We all arrived safely at my place and enjoyed some hot food and not much cold beer.
It didn't rain at all during the day which proves that Honda San and Yamaha San can't keep a good kwakka down. (I've left Spewsuki out of this because we had a couple on the ride).
There was a collection made at the Barbie which I haven't checked out yet. I might elect myself VIC treasurer and take requests for funding from members for finance, the Web Site costs come to mind.
Thanks to everyone for the company and the ride.
I had a great day and hope you did too. Roll on ASB at the Island.
